Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on mwgamers.com. You can change your cookie preferences any time by clearing site data in your browser, at which point the consent banner will reappear.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the site, and in some cases deliver relevant advertising.
Cookies we set directly
These first-party cookies are set by Most Wanted Gamers:
- mwg_consent — stores your cookie preferences. Strictly necessary. 13 months.
- gdpr_consent — mirror of your analytics/advertising choices, read by the GA4 script on subsequent page loads. Strictly necessary. 13 months.
- mwg_country — your country code, used to route Amazon affiliate links to the nearest marketplace. Functional. Session only (if set by the site) or 24 hours (if set by our edge network).
Theme (light/dark) and the per-session Amazon country cache are stored in your browser's localStorage / sessionStorage — technically not cookies, and they never leave your device.
Third-party cookies (with consent)
These are set by external services only after you grant consent to the relevant category:
Analytics (if accepted)
- _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics 4. Used to understand traffic patterns and improve content. Up to 2 years.
Advertising (if accepted)
- _fbp, _fbc — Meta Pixel. _fbc holds the Meta ad click ID when you arrive from one. Measures our Facebook and Instagram ads and builds audiences from site visits. 90 days.
- _ttp, _tt_enable_cookie — TikTok Pixel. Measures our TikTok ads and builds audiences from site visits. 13 months.
- ttclid, fbclid, gclid — set by us. The click ID from the TikTok, Meta or Google ad you arrived from, kept so a purchase on our store, Lutuno, can be attributed to that ad. 90 days. Deleted if you later refuse advertising cookies.
What happens if you decline
If you reject analytics and advertising cookies, the site remains fully functional but:
- We won't know which articles are popular (affects content planning, not your experience)
- Ads for our own store and affiliate links still appear; neither is personalised to you
- Amazon affiliate routing still works (it doesn't rely on cookies you haven't consented to)
Managing your preferences
To change your choice, clear site data in your browser (usually via Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data for this site). The banner will reappear on your next visit.
You can also manage third-party cookies at the source:
- Meta Ad Preferences — control how Meta uses your activity for ads
- TikTok Ad Settings — control personalised ads on TikTok
- YourOnlineChoices — EU industry opt-out portal
