Post-Game Recap:  Round #4 - 02-10-06
Map - De_Dust

(updated January 16th, 2006)

GREAT TURNOUT!!  A whopping 10 teams made it out for the 4th event of the Bi-weekly MiG tournament!  However, with 10 teams this creates a Set 2 and Set 3 'Bye-In' situation.  The team with the best score from the previous set will earn the bye.  If there's an odd number of teams to begin with, the 'Bye' will be randomly determined (for Set 1).  If anyone has any questions as to how the 'Bye-In' works, please feel free to email me (kleyATdriftstudio.com).

SET 1:  The first match was already a close one with RR taking it 11-9, a good close match!  The close matches make running this tournament worth every minute.  Match 2 was between DM (formerly Tournament round 2 winning FGT) and the newcomers USA.  DM had obviously been practicing and barely let USA even score.  This match  easily fits the definition of 'pwnage'.  DM took it 18-2.  Match 3 between the newly formed WHO team vs. the newcomers Adams team was similar to the DM match.  WHO stomped Adams 18-2 (tying WHO and DM for the Set 2 bye-in).  Match 4 proved that a name sometimes means nothing.  WaGL(a) - (we are gonna lose.. again) defeated team Rambo marginally with a 16-4 score.  The addition of Franco to WaGL's roster (as a temporary substitute) proved beneficial as he played very well (as he did in the MiG Event 3 tournament - where he was a member of the Tournament Winning team - TheGarshers).  Match 5 between the newly formed FeU team and StL got ugly fast.  This match started off close with the first set ending in a tie 5-5.  When StL switched to the 'Terrorist' side it was all down hill.  They stepped it up and won the 8 rounds as T ending the match 13-7.

SET 2:  Teams DM and WHO tied for the 2nd Set bye-in.  That's never happened before so WHO just voluntarily forfeited the bye.  If neither team was willing to forfeit I suppose we would've coin-tossed it.  Match 6 once again went smooth for team WHO, with them winning it 16-4. Kley
(it's weird referring to myself in the 3rd person) turned on the Hax and went 13-0 in the first half.  I should note that team RR lost their player 'Moose' and used a substitute (Big Bird) for this match.  Coordination can be a bear and Moose was unreachable for the second match for his team (I'm sorry Moose...)  Match 7 was close between WaGL(a) and StL.  They battled it out and almost failed their name again (they're supposed to Lose!!)!  The first set ended 6-4 and the second set came down to the last couple of rounds.  The veterans StL (formerly TheRapists) took the victory landing them in the semi-finals.

SET 3:
Team WHO won the third set bye-in (beating StL with 16 wins versus 11), automatically throwing them into the Championship match.  That left it to DM vs StL - two veteran teams with some of the best MiG regular players around.  StL had success being Terrorist so both teams agree to StL as Terrorists for the first half, and DM as CT.  DM pulled out the stops and Raped the former 'rapists' 10-0.  This is where DM's obvious hard work had paid off.  StL did better in the 2nd half, but it was already over.  DM took the win 16-4.

SET 4:  The Championship round ended up being WHO vs. DM.  DM having moral and momentum after having just pwnt StL also mopped up WHO.  The first half ended 7-3 with the second half ending early 4-1 leaving the overall score 11-4.  DM played very well!  If the other teams (mine included) don't start practicing strategies and teamwork, I'm afraid that team DM will continue their killing spree into future Tourneys to come.  Good Game DM!

GGs All!!  We'll see you in 2-3 weeks.  Yes, the next tourney may not be the 24th.  There's a scheduling conflict that may push it back to March 3rd.  I'll keep you all posted on the MiG forums.  A special thanks goes out to Helvetica and PolygonProspect for helping with the team coordination!
