Post-Game Recap:  Round #2 - 01-13-06
Map - De_Cbble

(updated January 16th, 2006)

Eight Teams signed up for the MIG Tournament Round 2.  All eight teams actually showed up as well.  Playing on Cobble gave the Terrorist team a slight advantage.  The terrorists usually swept one side or the other giving them an advantage.  Three T's sweeping Bombsite B where only one CT is guarding and one is half-way guarding (via the dark middle room) made it easy to penetrate and get the bomb planted.  With the bomb planted, the remaining T's can sit and wait for the remaining CTs to come waltzing in.  To make matters worse, now the T's would have money and the CTs remain broke.  The team who got T first got to build up wins right off the bat which applied pressure to the opposing team who now had to win the majority of the 10 rounds in the 2nd set to tie or win.

Team FGT, who took the Tournament this round had some amazing plays throughout the night.  They were sneaky in every aspect.  From fake rushes, to double and triple-backs, extreme delay rushes, to sending the bomb off by himself while the other two distract and draw the enemy made FGT impossible to predict.  Truly fine communication and teamwork guys!

SET1:  SSR lost to FGT in the first match 4 to 16.  Reliable Ryan was the clear-cut MVP with a whopping 20-3 record in the 2nd set.  I was demo'ing his ass for a while there - lol!  The VAD vs. NS match ended up a nail-biter at the end.  Very close match leading to a NS victory 11-9 - Pants being the MVP for this match.  The PHK vs. Therapist match went much worse then PHK had probably expected.  Being the round 1 tournament winner you would've expected them to at least make it to the 2nd set.  Nope!  Therapist (The Rapist) did as their name implied - raped.  PHK lost 6 -14.  The GS vs. WAGL match was a blast to spectate.  Some of matches were very.. slow, but GS and WAGL went at it like rabid animals.  Some of the rounds ended in under 60 seconds.  Just a slaughter fest!  I loved it.  The first set left the teams tied 5-5.  GS narrowly won the 2nd set 6-4.  lolz @ WAGL = We Are Gonna Lose.  The second screenshot has the spray that they were using.

SET2:  FGT continued their stomping right into the second set defeating NS 17-3.  NS lost their MVP Pants and substituted NakedMonkee.  Monkee's 19-7 record after the 1st set proved that he filled Pants shoes quite well.  However, FGT's teamwork was unstoppable.  Therapist came through with another win beating GS 13-7.  Therapist won the majority of the rounds as CT and T.

SET3: Championship:  Holy shit!  That's what this is all about.  I know the demo doesn't let you see the scores but let me tell you, this is as close as it gets!  The first set ended with both teams tied 5-5.  Halfway through the 2nd set, it appeared as though Therapists had the match, but FGT stuck with it and gained momentum and brought the score to 5-4.  The last round of 2nd set determined whether or not FGT won, or if the match was going into Overtime.  Well, you know the outcome.  The screenshots don't do Knd Kyle justice.  FGT used the strategy several times where Ryan and Killa would go to the opposite side of the map (usually A) and raise hell.  I'd watch the guy covering B leave to help the fight against this attack.  Then Kyle would quietly tip-toe into B and plant.  Now the CTs need to rush B to get the bomb defused.  If Ryan and Killa are still alive, they also need to worry about getting backdoored.  On at least two rounds, Kyle was the last one alive, stuck defending the bomb against all three of the CTs at one point.  He kept pulling it off.  Kyle was definitely the FGT MVP for the tournament match.

GGs all, we'll see you in two weeks.  The tourney server is available if anyone wants to scrim/pug.
